Woman Donates Wedding Reception To Homeless Shelter

I imagine that one of a woman’s biggest fears would be being left at the alter, or their fiance getting cold feet weeks or days before the wedding.

That’s exactly what happened to 29-year-old Dana Olsen who was supposed to get married this past Saturday. Her fiance got cold feet 6 weeks ago, which was too late to get her deposit back for the reception venue.

Instead of letting it going to waste, she turned a negative situation into a positive one. She donated her wedding reception to a homeless shelter called Mary’s Place that’s specifically for women and kids. According to the Seattle Times, Dana also got hair stylists and makeup artists to donate their time to give the women makeovers.

When it was time to party, everyone walked into the reception hall to find beautiful tables with flowers everywhere, menus for a nice dinner, a big dance floor and even a band. Dana will never forget this day for multiple reasons, but hopefully the good she did will outweigh the bad and heartbreak.

You can see some pictures and a video from the special day HERE.
